Martin Roberts at The Flower Shop, Bushey

Gosh! Has it been that long?

Hard to believe but we've owned the Flower Shop or to give its proper, although rarely used title, Martin Roberts at The Flower Shop for 15 years. But working with flowers is in the blood, at least in Sue's. A talented and extremely innovative individual she has been around flowers since she could crawl. Working and playing in the family run florist, Blacke And Cook founded by her grandad in the 1940's, all her life. I too worked for my mother-in-law for six years before we decided to take the plunge and go it alone. Our first 'hiring' was our son Sam, as to be expected his talent has blossomed. Along with Nikki, Tim, Holly and not forgetting Cookie & Riley our Yorkshire Terrier's, we've molded a good and very capable team.

We still love the career we've chosen and are constantly looking for and being inspired by new ideas and the wonderful flowers and plants we're surrounded by. The main benefits of now having a successful business are we do not have to accept jobs we don't wish to do. The major drawback is not quite having the energy we used to! That of course is where Sam comes in, and I say adieu!

Morris Minor in March MM MontlyBefore we had even signed the lease for our shop we had already bought a Morris Minor LCV which had gone straight into the repair shop. Our hearts were set on using a van with character for our local deliveries and it has provided many smiles around South West Hertfordshire and North West London. Even further afield when the Mercedes Vito is unavailable, crossing the River Thames to the New Covent Garden Flower Market, wedding flowers at Woburn Abbey and a weekend in Lytham St. Annes. The Morris has also starred on TV & in the movies and has been featured in the March 2009 edition of Minor Monthy magazine. Click here to read the feature.
