The Flower Shop, Bushey - The histoty of our shop.

Hard to believe but we've owned the Flower Shop or to give its proper, although rarely used title, Martin Roberts at The Flower Shop for over 11 years. But working with flowers is in the blood, at least in Sue's. A talented and extremely innovative individual she has been around flowers since she could crawl. Working and playing in the family run florist, Blacke And Cook founded by her grandad in the 1940's, all her life. I too worked for my mother-in-law for six years before we decided to take the plunge and go it alone. Our first 'hiring' was our son Sam, as to be expected his talent has blossomed. Along with Hayley, Nikki, Tim, Holly and Fred, our Yorkshire Terrier, we've molded a good and very capable team.

Based in the pretty village of Bushey there has been a florist at this location for over fifty years but when we bought it had become a little run-down and the flower designs out-dated. From the outset Sue was determined to stay true to her first love and not to compromise. From day one the shop has been filled with the best that the English growers and Dutch Auction Houses can supply. With Sue's eye for design and quirky and unique style the shop has flourished. We're proud to serve our local community with flowers for weddings, births, deaths, flower festivals and floral gifts for those special and just-because days. Situated a short way north of London and south of Watford the reputation of our shop has also, quickly and surprisingly easily, extended far beyond our local borders. Many of our clients traveling many miles to choose flowers for their homes and as gifts and then there are the frequently rather exciting events. Film & TV work and total confidence placed in Sue to organise the flowers for major wedding and parties throughout London and the Home Counties

We still love the career we've chosen and are constantly looking for and being inspired by new ideas and the wonderful flowers and plants we're surrounded by. The main benefits of now having a successful business are we do not have to accept jobs we don't wish to do. The major drawback is not quite having the energy we used to! That of course is where Sam comes in, and I say adieu!
